Photography Exhibit New Perspectives: Dominican Republic to be Inaugurated by Dominican Embassy in Mexico, Marking DR Independence Day Celebrations

Mexico City, February 26, 2014

New Perspectives: Dominican Republic Photo Exhibit, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development, opens in Mexico on February 27, 2014 and remains on display until the end of March. Plaza Loreto, a new development in Mexico City's Federal District will house the exhibit, showcasing 13 striking images of the Dominican landscape captured from the air.

The New Persepectives Exhibition has been made possible in collaboration with the Dominican Embassy in Mexico and will be inaugurated at 7:00 PM by its Ambassador, Fernando A. Pérez Memén to mark Dominican Independence Day celebrations.

The exhibit has proven popular in many corners of the globe, including Europe and the Americas, and shows stunning images of the lesser-known areas of the Dominican Republic.  Many of the thousands of  visitors to the exhibit have been impressed by the breathtakingly and varied scenary of the Dominican Republic’s thirty-three provinces, produced by Dominican-based photographer Anne Casale. The images that make up the Photo Exhibit come from a richly-illustrated photo album of the same name, published in 2007 by an international interdisciplinary team led by Natasha Despotovic, Project Director and Editor-in-Chief.

The partnership between the Foundations and the Dominican Embassy in Mexico will provide an invaluable opportunity to gather residents and tourists around this unique educational experience designed to broaden their vision, perception and understanding of a country that presents an array of landscapes and evokes the same amount of emotions, while contributing to strengthen a healthy national pride amongst Dominicans and those interested in the Dominican culture.

GFDD and FUNGLODE, are nonprofit organizations registered in the U.S. and the Dominican Republic, respectively, with the purpose of contributing to the social, economic and democratic development of the Dominican Republic. Both organizations were created, and are inspired by the vision of President Leonel Fernández, whom also serves as president of each institution.
