On January 28, 2011, the successful exhibition of aerial photographs New Perspectives: Dominican Republic will open at the Malecón, Bahía de Samaná. The exhibit is a traveling photo display of Dominican landscapes and iconic tourist attractions by acclaimed Franco-Dominican photographer Anne Casale. This exhibition has already been shown with great success on several occasions both nationally and in Europe and the United States. It is intended to commemorate the country’s achievements in the areas of economic, social, environmental and democratic progress.
The exhibition showcases aerial images of the provinces of Samaná, La Altagracia, Santiago Rodríguez, Santo Domingo, Pedernales, Barahona, Monte Cristi, Valverde, Puerto Plata, Santiago, Espaillat, Salcedo, Maráa Trinidad Sánchez, Duarte, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, La Romana, San Pedro de Macoris, Monte Plata, San Cristobal, San José, Azua, La Vega, San José de Ocoa, Sánchez Ramírez, Peravia, Monseñor Nouel, Independencia, Bahoruco, Elías Piña and Dajabón. The complete collection, comprising over 400 images, has been assembled in a masterly publication of the same title, which has been produced by an international interdisciplinary team led by its editor in chief, Ms. Natasha Despotovic, and published by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and the Fundación Global Desarrollo y Democracia (FUNGLODE).
The exhibit’s opening reception will be held at the Malecón of Samaná, Puerto Laguada, from 10:30 am on January 28, 2011 and will be attended by representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, as well as by FUNGLODE and GFDD officials. The exhibition of this important photographic work will be open to the public starting on January 28.
